There are over 70 teams and about 1,500 kids in the Southern California Lacrosse Association (SCLA) from towns ranging from Newbury Park all the way to Santa Clarita and Pasadena and everywhere in between.

In a nine game season, not including the season opening Jamboree, with multiple practices per week starting in January and running through April, it all culminates in the end of season Lax Fest.

The SCLA hosts the Lax Fest for seven divisions: Girls Elementary and Girls Middle School, Boys U11 Stars and Stripes, Boys U13 Stars and Stripes, and Boys U15s. Simi Valley has teams in six of these seven divisions.

Of the six divisions Simi Valley competed in – GES, GMS, U11 Stripes, U13 Stars, U13 Stripes, and U15 (two teams) – we made it to a whopping FIVE Championship games. We did this with two #1 seeds, a #2 seed, a #3 seed, and three lower seeds. The competition was stiff and the format challenging with multiple games in a single day. Three of our Championship games were decided by two goals or less.

Big congratulations to our Simi1 U15s who are Champions under Head Coach Darren Jamison. They won 7-4 in a game they controlled from the first whistle.

Congratulations also to our other teams that played in close Championship games, especially our Girls Elementary School team that earned two major upsets along the way and lost by just two goals.

As a developmental program for young student athletes, we want to foster fun, camaraderie, improvement, and achievement. All of our teams had successes this season. It’s particularly gratifying to see teams loaded with first-year players make it to the final game of the season through hard work and determination. What a tremendous accomplishment. As far as our program is represented in five of seven Lax Fest Championship games goes, it’s simply astounding.

Credit is due to all our players who are living and learning through competition and demonstrating good sportsmanship. Credit is also due to our coaching staff as they have worked tirelessly to develop players while enhancing our program’s reputation as one of the best in the SCLA.

Thank you all for supporting the program and please spread the word so we can get more kids involved in lacrosse.
